DSPFC currently has a 2010 Boys program and we have no plans to support other birth years at this time. In 2024/2025, our 2010 program will expand to be more academy like with spots available for up to 33 players.
Not in the traditional sense. For the program there will be one head coach and a pool of assistant coaches just as there will be one pool of players. All the players will train together going through the same team approaches and training activities. There may be sessions where players are broken out by position, but the intention is that everyone is fighting for places every session.
We are still working through all the details on how the mechanics will work, but there will be events where we only bring a single team that the players will be fighting for a spot on, and there will be events where we bring a single or multiple teams to ensure that everyone in the program is getting their opportunity to develop and shine.
The environment is specifically designed to challenge each and every player to operate and train at their top level every session. At DSPFC, we feel that this healthy competitive environment is the optimal way to maximize each player's potential.
As we have players from all over the city that are part of our program, we have secured facilities in various parts to aid in transportation. We regularly train at:
In addition, we have used facilities at:
Anyone we can. In 2023/2024, we are a tournament team, so we enter tournaments all over the state to find the best competition. We don't play in a league like MLS Next or ECNL, but we enter tournaments where those top teams also compete.
For 2024/2025 we will continue to be a tournament team; however, we are currently in discussions with one academy league to determine if it would be beneficial for our program. In the current year, we had the 2nd most difficult schedule in the state outside of teams that play ECNL or MLS Next, so we have found that the tournament approach can provide high level competitive games and a better schedule.
You can find our upcoming tournament schedule here and see our results and the teams we've played here.
Absolutely. While our roster is full for the 2023/2024 season, if you're looking at us as an option for the 2024/2025, I would love to have you out to a training session or two so you can see what it is like. Just fill out the contact us form, and I will typically reach out within 24 hours. At that point, we can figure out what works best for all parties.
In addition, we have one more ID camp on April 14th (you can request a spot here) to provide interested players the opportunity to interact with DSPFC coaches, train with and play against high level talent, and get a sense of the expectations.
Tryouts for the 2024/2025 season will be in alignment with Florida Soccer. Our initial tryout schedule is post on the tryouts page. Our tryouts will be offered in such a way that you can also attend the tryouts of other local clubs so that you can weigh all your options.
Our first tryout will be May 2nd and we will have a pre-tryout meeting on April 28th to explain the process, program and answer any questions you may have about DSPFC.
For the 2024/2025 season, we will be moving to a subscription model so that you are not locked in. At DSPFC, it is our responsibility to create an environment you want to keep coming back to. Our subscription cost will be $330/month and it will cover all expenses (with the exception of personal travel).
We will be getting new kits this season that we expect to last for two years. There are more details on fees here.
This has been somewhat of an evolution. When we first started the summer academy in 2017, Jill DAmato's company, Digital Solution Partners, was the source of funds for the program. Historically all the summer programs were fully funded, so we named the program DSPFC as an acknowledgment of her generosity.
In 2019, Jill and Brian DAmato formally created a 501(c)3 non-profit to support all of our charitable activities (including the soccer program) and enable us to put funds away for future uses. At that point, DSPFC became the DAmato Shipp Private Foundation and Charity (Shipp is Jill's maiden name).
As for the soccer team, we just refer to it as DSP and use the name as a starting point into a broader discussion of our purpose and approach.
We have tryouts scheduled for May 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th. You do not have to attend them all, but you do have to attend one. We are intentionally NOT having tryouts on May 1st so that everyone can attend one of the other programs in the area; however, some programs may have multiple days that are required. As part of our pre-tryout meeting, we will go through how we expect everything to work and know that our goal is to be an option and we will work with you and your player to ensure they get the opportunity to tryout for our program.
In short, no. We will go through this in more detail on the pre-tryout meeting, but after you are offered a position at your current club, the key will be to not officially accept it and put a deposit down. Once you make a financial commitment, the clubs are treating that like a contract. There will be pressure to make a deposit very quickly in the process, somewhat like a used-car salesman, but the fact of the matter is that they are not going to give your spot away in a few days. At DSPFC, we expect all of our offers to be out by May 6th, so everyone will be able to make their decisions very early in May and you and your family will be able to evaluate options.
We will go into this in a lot more detail at the pre-tryout meeting, but the answer is yes and no. It will NOT be like the current club structure where there is a first team and a second team. We will have a single pool of players, a single coaching staff, trainings will be done together and the players will be competing. However, the program is here to develop everyone, and to develop you need game time, so there will be situations where we have two teams at an event. It’s a bit complicated, but it is one of the key reasons for the pre-tryout meeting - I want everyone to be very clear on what you are trying out for and how the experience is going to be for you and your player.
On the tryout page, it is below schedule, so just scroll down on the page (www.dspfc.com/tryouts)
We are looking for players who are committed to their craft and want to compete at the highest levels. For that to be successful, we want parents who are looking to be a critical part of the player's growth and development. It takes a village to build the best, join the movement.
